Install Astra Theme
To upload theme templates, you need to have the Astra theme installed on your WordPress. You can download it from the Astra website or install it through the WordPress theme repository.
If you download it from a website, then you need to upload it from Appearance > Themes > Upload. But an easier way is to install it via WordPress.
Go to themes, search for Astra, or go to the popular themes section and you will find it there. Install and then activate it.
Install a Starter Theme Template Plugin
Now as you have the Astra theme installed it is time to install a theme template.
Go to plugins and search for Astra Starter Templates. It will be the first on the list and the author must be Brainstorm Force. That is the company behind Astra and many other great WordPress products.
After you install starter templates it is time to import them on your website.
How To Import Templates
When you install a starter template you will find a new section under the Appearance tab – Starter Templates. This is the place where you will find Astra theme templates.
Great thing is that you can preview all the templates before uploading them. But first, you have to choose the page builder you want to use.
Astra has templates for major page builders like Elementor, Beaver Builder, Brizy, and Gutenberg. So, you have many options.
After you choose the builder, then it will display all the available templates for that builder. But not all the theme templates are free. Some of them have an Agency tag. These are the pro templates. You can’t use them with the free version of Astra.
You can choose website types from the dropdown on the top or search them. When you will find the template you like, you can preview all the pages of that template.
Another option you have is that you can upload specific pages or the complete website. When you click the Import button a window pops up. Leave the default settings checked because different template needs different plugins to work.
I recommend uploading a template on a fresh WordPress install because if you have content on the website and have some plugins installed, the template might not work properly.
Now when you are ready, click import and it will start the installation process. It may take 2 to 5 minutes depending on the size of the template.
After it is completed you can view your website and you will see that now you have a fully functional, beautiful website. It has all the necessary pages created and plugins installed.
