When you have a blog, it is a good idea to have multiple users. WordPress makes it easy to add users to your website. No plugins required.
But it doesn’t have to be a blog. It can be any kind of website. Having different users has many advantages.
When you create a new user, he/she will have a different login user and password. Also, there is another great thing that I will talk about.
Why You Should Add Users
Having different users for your website has many advantages. For example, let’s say you have a blog and 3 writers.
It is always a good idea to create separate users for each writer. This way they can log in separately and also, their posts automatically will have separate authors.

So, if Jane writes posts with her user, posts author will be she. But you can add users to any type of website.
And another great thing about it is that you can assign roles to each user. WordPress user roles allow you to give different capabilities to different users.
For example, one can only write posts, one can publish, etc. You will be the administrator. Read more about user roles here.
Now that we know why different users are great, let’s see how you can do it.
Step 1: Add New User
First of all, in order to add a user, go to Users > All Users and click Add New button.
You get a simple interface with couple of inputs you have to fill in.
You have to choose a username, email, name, website, and password. Username and email are required and username can’t be changed once created.
You can generate a password or use a custom one. A new user will log in to a website with this username and password.
Step 2: Choose An User Role
Now, you have to choose a role for your new user. You have different options:
They all have different capabilities. An administrator is the strongest one. He can do anything such as install plugins, themes, publish posts, pages, etc.
But others have limited features. For example, Authors can publish and manage their posts, Editors can publish and edit others’ posts, Contributors can manage but can’t publish posts, etc.

So, you are free to choose a role for your employees. You can have many authors but one editor or something like that.
If you have an eCommerce website and you are using WooCommerce, there might be additional roles like shop manager, customer, etc.
When you fill in all the inputs and choose roles, click Add New User button and that is it. A new user is created. That is how easy it is to add users to any WordPress website.
Now, when editor or author logs in, they can write and publish posts, but they can’t install/uninstall plugins. The administrator does that.
Step 3: Edit Users
You can edit any information of any users. Just go to your users, click edit and you can change different things.
You can choose color themes, change your name, email, password, etc. Also, you can delete them.
You have full control as an administrator. You can also have many administrators if you want to. User numbers and roles are not limited.
It is very easy to add users to a WordPress website. It can be done without plugins and very fast. Add as many users you want and add user roles to each and every one of them.
You can have authors, editors, contributors, administrators, and other types of users. There are also other types of users specific to WooCommerce such as Shop Manager and Customer.
